Description

The StarViper-class Attack Platform was a heavy starfighter created after Prince Xizor’s Virago, and was used extensively by the galactic criminal underground during the era of the Galactic Empire.

The StarViper was equipped with dual laser cannons and the capability of releasing buzz droids, but unlike other starfighters it was short in length and but rather tall in stature.  It lacked a fuselage and had decent armor which made it quick and nimble, however, also making it expensive to produce.  Due to its prohibitive cost to produce it was not deployed in
large squadrons.

The most notable StarViper was the Virago.  The Virago was commissioned by Prince Xizor as his custom and personalized starship.  To ensure the Virago remained unique, Prince
Xizor purchased all production rights from MandalMotors on its designs after collaboration with them directly for its creation was completed.  The Virago itself was with designed with a super advanced targeting computer resulting in greater performance regardless of what armament it possessed.

After Prince Xizor’s death MandalMotors reacquired the production rights and started to release a less powerful version of the Virago to the open market.  Mandal Hypernautics began producing the fighter short after the acquisition as well.

Once their general production started StarVipers started to become the main starfighter of the Zann Consortium.  Included in the design specification of the Zann Consortiums StarVipers were the capability of deploying buzz droids which the purchased from the Black Market following the conclusion of the Clone Wars.  In combat the StarVipers performed better then the tie interceptors of the Galactic Empire and RZ-1 A-wing of the Rebel Alliance.
