The Mining Guild’s collaboration with the Empire gives it access to state-of-the-art Sienar Fleet System technology, including modified TIE/ln fighters. The removal of two solar panels reduces the starfighters power output in exchange for a much more boosted peripheral vision when weaving through treacherous asteroid fields.
In order to distinguish themselves from the fighters of the Empire they were repainted with a yellow color scheme along with having the insignia of the Mining Guild. They also had the front notch cut out of the stabilizers, resulting in them only having a total of eight solar
collectors instead of twelve. The removal of solar collectors increased the pilot visibility, but diminished their combat capabilities and maneuverability. Each Mining Guild Tie was also equipped with basic shielding to protect the Mining Guild’s investment in the equipment and training of its pilots. In contrast with the Empire’s tie fighters, their pilots were not viewed as expendable. Each Mining Guild Tie was also retrofitted with specialized sensors to detect and analyze valuable resources to later be mined and gathered.
The role of the Mining Guild Tie fighter was to patrol the territory of the Mining Guild’s Asteroid Belt Gas Refinery Territories to prevent theft of valuable resources and gasses. Along with locating such materials within the territory they patrolled via the sensors they possessed.
