Description

The Delta-7 Aethersprite-class Light Interceptor, also commonly called the Jedi Starfighter was a product of Kuat Systems Engineering.  It was used by the Jedi Order before and during the Clone Wars, hence why it was commonly called the Jedi Starfighter.  It was also used by the Rebel Alliance in their early campaigns against the Galactic Empire during the Galactic Civil War.

The Delta-7 Aethersprite-class Light Interceptor saw extensive use during the Clone Wars primarily in use by the Jedi Order.  The Delta-7 Aethersprite was designed with the Jedi Order in mind.  Kuat Systems Engineers worked with the Jedi Order directly to design the starfighter with fewer internal systems in mind then other starfighters.  With a focus being on the controls being as responsive as possible for the Jedi pilot.  Thus leaning into the Jedi pilot’s force-sensitivity to increase speed capabilities and make quick maneuverability possible, creating a blending of pilot and starfighter.

As an elite starfighter, it could accommodate a single pilot and an integrated astromech.  Due to the design of the Delta-7 with its wings being too thin, its astromech wasn’t able to fully integrate into the starfigher.  Instead a modified astromech would integrate into the vessel’s
wing, with the dome remaining intact and above the wing but its components being plugged directly into the ships computer systems.  The droid, therefore was able to play a more important role in assisting the Jedi pilot, by assisting with navigation, damage control, and calculating hyperspace coordinates.

Unfortunately, unlike most ships in the galaxy, the Aethersprite did not feature a built in hyperspace drive.  It instead relied on external hyperspace rings that attached to the starship that would then allow it to enter into hyperspace when needed, then detach and go about its business.
